Newsletter for December 2004


Commander Rodiguez, making his annual official visit to Chapter 422, stated to a joint meeting of MOPH and LAMOPH, his vision on the short term and long term goals for the Department of Arizona and Affiliated Chapters. He stress that all qualitative and quantitative goals would utilize the energy, talents of the Department, Chapters and LAMOPH working in concert to provide help to all veterans in need.

In addition, Commander Lomayesva introduced Commander Rodiguez and the following guest and they were asked to say a few words for the good of the order.

  1. Commander Al Rodiguez, Department of Arizona
  2. Vera Houston, President of Department of Arizona, LAMOPH.
  3. John Suardini, Department Finance Officer.
  4. Jerry Houston, Chief of Staff, (CC & PCC).
  5. Bill Archer, Department Inspector, reviewed the books, and made a positive report on same.

STATED MEETING:
  1. Commander Lomayesva opened the stated meeting at 10:00 AM according to ritual.
  2. No applications for membership.
  3. Adjutant Suddarth called the roll and informed Finance Officer Gilbertson was an excused absence.
  4. Commander Lomayesva, acting in the absence of Finance Officer Gilbertson, stated that the check book balance of Chapter 422 was $5,395.52.
  5. Chaplain Radlinski reported that he had not received calls relating to distress, sickness or death.
  6. Adjutant Suddarth reported that all participants in the Veterans Day Parade were on time and received accolades from many spectators.
NEW BUSINESS:
  1. Commander Rodiguez reported that he had appointed a liaison officer to coordinate the presentation of plaques to the next of kin of sworn police officers killed in the line of duty. However, the Department would not compete with Chapter 422 as they have been making presentations of this type for a long time.
  2. Jon Suardini, Commander of Chapter 790, presented a check for $6,813.32 to Chapter 422 that represented a bequest from Patriot Kulikowski's estate, who was a member of Chapter 422, that was inadvertently issued to Chapter 790. Thanks to Adjutant Puskar and Commander Suardini, of Chapter 790, for their cooperation efforts in this matter.
  3. The minutes of the October 15, 2004, stated meeting were accepted as written in the November Newsletter.
GOOD OF THE ORDER
  1. Chapter 422 approved the following expenditures for the benefit of veterans and their families:
    1. $100.00 for discretionary use by AZ Veterans Home.
    2. $100.00 for VA Nursing Home.
    3. $100.00 to Luke Adopt a Child Program.
    4. $1,000.00 to the Department of Arizona from the Kulikowski Estate Fund, for department activities.

Commander Lomayesva closed the stated meeting according to ritual.
