Newsletter for JANUARY 2005

A quorum was not met for December 2004.
COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

As we have closed out the old year, we now enter the new. I have really enjoyed working with all of you, members of M.O.P.H. Chapter 422. We have done a lot, and all had fun. Now, as we continue to help and serve our fellow veterans within the community, keep smiling, and let them know that we care. Thank you volunteers, you all pitched in to help and that's what it's all about. Know that you have done your good deed for the day.

I trust everyone had a happy Merry Christmas and New Year. As we go to press, contributors to our newsletter who have gone home for the holidays are still not back yet, so this will be a short newsletter. We wish them a safe journey back to Phoenix, and hopefully they will all be back in time for our January 21st meeting.

Walk in Peace,
Stan Lomayesva, Commander, Chapter 422

FINANCE OFFICER'S REPORT

First, let me wish each of you a Happy New Year for 2005!

We begin the year with a balance of $10,681.85. We are especially indebted to Patriot Frank J. Kulikowski who left $6,813.00 from his estate to our Chapter.

Yours truly,
Warren Gilbertson

CHAPLAIN'S PEW

A HAPPY New Year to all our Patriots and your families! I hope 2005 will be even better for all of you. I hope one of your New Year's resolutions will be to at least allow time for some of our meetings.

Returning from the cold country (Ohio), it will be nice to be back on the 4th of January 2005.

In case of any sickness or death, call me at (623) 974-1427.

Keeping all of you and your families in my daily prayers.

Al Radlinski, Patriot Chaplain
USS Arizona Memorial #422

LADIES AUXILIARY

Our December meeting was busy! We discussed plans for the New Year and we will keep you up to date. We have pushed back the Pie & Cake Party until we can get the details worked out for the "special diet" needs of the veterans.

Sandi Powelson mentioned that she and Vera Houston were working on the wording changes to the name of our auxiliary. This needs to be done due to the fact that there are more women receiving Purple Hearts and they do have husbands and sons. We'd like to have them join us. Sue Gilbertson has to be thanked for the initial suggestion. We like the name "Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary" - any other suggestions?

Our next meeting is on the 21st of January - same place and time.

Happy January birthday to - Joan Crabb, Rebecca Crawford, Ida Fredericks and Elsie Ottersberg.

Have a great New Year! Call if you need a ride - 602-862-9718.

Pamela Schaut, President (602) 862-9718
