Ahwatukee American Legion Post #64
ARC Veterans Club

January 2005

Happy New Year!! By now, everyone should be at least 10 pounds heavier - enough of parties and eating, time to get back to business. If you skipped any of our affairs, you missed a great time. Try to make the next one.

For those that wish to participate in coming events that require uniforms, we usually combine orders for uniforms to save shipping and handling. An order is being assembled at this time, so if you wish to order a Legion Cap, blouse or trousers please contact Charles Roloff, 13043 S 41st Place, Phoenix, AZ 85044 or call 480-893-3374.

At our meeting of December 2004, a motion was presented to accept Dobson House of Hospice of the Valley, at 1188 N. Dobson Road, Chandler, AZ 85225 as one of our charitable supportive endeavors. Dobson House takes in the Ahwatukee and the Foothills area. We are not obligated for any monetary support but merely to help when needed. This is not just for veterans, but for the whole family when illness strikes. Incidentally, three member of our Post #64 have had use of their facilities just recently. For further information, contact any officer of Post #64. We will have a representative of Hospice of the Valley to give a talk on benefits at a future meeting.

This is the information about the Washington DC trip. There will be a presentation on January 17th at 4 PM at the Recreation Center by the tour company representative. We will be staying at the Wyndham in Washington DC. It's not far from the National Mall but to far to walk (for most). For a complete itinerary a flyer will be sent to all that are interested. The trip is in May and the exact dates and price will be sent to all that may be interested.

Membership

As yet we have not reached our goal for the year 2005, please send in your dues at this time. Don't wait for a letter but send it to Post #64 at the Cheyenne address or drop it in the veterans box at the Rec. Center.

We welcome new members Henry Szot and Floyd Whitmore, let's get them active as we need new members for our Color Guard and Honor Guard. For those that have not paid at this time I have underlined the top of letter I sent out.

Post Everlasting

I still can't seem to get away from this heading. I regret to inform you that we lost Charles Rosenkrantz on December 29th. Dave Seward, our Chaplain and Charles Roloff paid a visit to Charley at Dobson House just hours before he passed away at 6:30 PM.

Our next meeting will be on January 19th, 3 PM at the Rec. Center. The speaker will be Barb LeChaix on the Washington trip.
